Trans Awareness Week

Trans Awareness Week is a time to raise the visibility of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, as well as outline the issues experienced within this community. The following is a list of educational and fun events that will be occurring throughout the week:

Monday, March 27
Trans 101 Workshop
3:00pm-4:30pm, ARTS 108
This workshop, facilitated by OUTSaskatoon’s Ben Lindsay, will take you through the definitions of and issues surrounding transgender identities. A basic understanding of queer identities is recommended before taking this workshop.

Tuesday, March 28
Gender Revolution Potluck
6:00-9:00 pm, OUTSaskatoon
Gender Revolution, a group that meets every Tuesday, is happy to put on a community dinner and potluck for the week. This event is open to all trans and gender non-conforming people and accepting friends, families, and allies. Please bring some food to share, and we highly encourage you to be conscious of other people’s food restrictions and allergies.

Wednesday, March 29
Movie Night
6:00 pm, OUTSaskatoon
This night will include a screening of “Transgender Journey: the Struggle for Rights and Respect”, a documentary that gives a voice to Canadian trans and gender non-conforming people. There will also be lots of snacks! If you like eating and watching some educational TV, this is the night for you.

Thursday, March 30
Saskatoon Squares
6:30 pm, OUTSaskatoon
OUTSaskatoon is proud to put on the game show, Saskatoon Squares. The show’s topic is around Sexual Health and Trans Health. If you want to have some fun and learn something new, come on out to this event!

Friday, March 31
Living Trans 101
6:00 pm, OUTSaskatoon
This event is catered toward transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. Two facilitators from Gender Revolution will lead a discussion on myths and misconceptions of being trans.
