The current version of Mathematica available on campus is 10.4.1. Wolfram recommends that people update to this version, if they are currently running 10.4.
These software is available on the windows network share;
and the update process is straightforward, as you existing settings will be used. If you are installing on a new computer, you will need to tell the installer that you use “Other ways to activate” (at the bottom of the screen) and “connect to a network license server“. The server’s name is “auth.usask.ca”.
Wolfram’s announcement of this “point release” begins:
“This update addresses some critical issues identified in the 10.4.0 release, including a code signing (Gatekeeper) bug that surfaced with Apple’s Mac OS X 10.11.4 update, OpenGL issues introduced in the 10.4.0 upgrade, and activation problems on Linux reported by a few customers.”
The list of new features can be found at the Wolfram site.
On a local note, May marks the start of our third 3 year contract with Wolfram to use Mathematica.
Thanks to Alfred Hovdestad for updating the license manager and Scott Findlay for renewing our contract with Wolfram.
