Automatic External Defibrillators

The Department of Campus Safety are proud carriers of the Automatic External Defibrillators, we currently carry one in each patrol vehicle on campus.

What are AED’s?
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable automatic device used to restore normal heart rhythm to patients in cardiac arrest.
An AED is applied outside the body. It automatically analyzes the patient’s heart rhythm and advises the rescuer whether or not a shock is needed to restore a normal heart beat.
Based on national statistics related to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, researchers estimated that CPR plus use of an
AED in the United States and Canada saves 522 lives a year, or more than one life per day.
If you are interested in having an AED on site in your department please contact us at 966-2404 for more information.
