AFN General Assembly To Discuss Language Revitalization And Human Rights

Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Perry Bellegarde says this year’s General Assembly, taking place this week in Regina will be discussing two issues in particular. The major focus he feels will be the revitalization of Indigenous languages and the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Ottawa Indigenous HIV Conference Underway

The Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network is hosting a special symposium that has attracted Indigenous health experts from 14 countries. The goal of the gathering isĀ “to recommend to governments best practices and promising practices that have been successful within our Indigenous communities around the world,” said Ken Clement, executive director of the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network.
