Saskatchewan Indigenous High School Graduation Rate Still Lags

According to recent figures, the high school graduation rate for First Nations, Metis and Inuit students was 43.2% compared with 76.5% in total. A strategic plan unveiled in 2014 by the Saskatchewan government and the Saskatchewan School Boards Association aims to have the overall graduation rate up to 85% by 2020 with the Indigenous rate up to 65%.

Reports Says SUNTEP Provides ‘Billions’ In Social Benefits To Saskatchewan

University of Saskatchewan economics professor Eric Howe reported recently that the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) has resulted in billions of dollars of benefits for the province. The estimated benefit ranges from $13 billion in a “low scenario” to almost $40 billion in the, “high scenario”.
