SaskPower ‘Defers’ Black Lake First Nation Hydroelectric Project

SaskPower recently announced that it has decided to ‘defer’ a $630 million hydroelectric project that was to be built entirely on First Nation land. In 2013 SaskPower and Black Lake First Nation signed an agreement in principle to work on the project. It has been estimated that the project would have brought $1.3 billion into Black Lake over the project’s 90 year lifespan.
