Curious to see what happens behind the doors at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Medical Centre?

Here’s your chance: the veterinary college is hosting an open house from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, February 17, at its medical centre.

The event is celebrating the facility’s recent name change that was approved by the University of Saskatchewan in September 2011. Previously known as the WCVM Veterinary Teaching Hospital, the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre better reflects the facility’s multiple roles as a centre of excellence for veterinary education, clinical services and research in Western Canada.

The VMC also serves as the referral centre for all western Canadian veterinarians.

Besides celebrating the name change, the open house will also give clients, students, donors and animal owners the opportunity to explore the expanded medical centre and to view some of its new technologies including a new computed tomography (CT) unit and nuclear scintigraphy.

Veterinary students will offer tours of the centre while faculty and staff will give demonstrations of some veterinary techniques and new technologies.

To reach the VMC Open House

  • Please come to the Small Animal Clinic main entrance on Veterinary Road, U of S. Signs will be posted in the clinic foyer.

Parking

  • Free parking in VMC client parking
lot (watch for signs). Please do not park in front of the Small Animal Clinic.
